When buying tire chains for your All Terrain vehicle, it pays to be an informed consumer. Two Types Of Chains

There are two main types of chains for All Terrain vehicles, namely four link spacing and two link spacing chains. Most people choose the two link spacing chain. It may help you to understand why this is so if you can visualize how the two types of chains are different.

The spacing on these chains is how many times the links are skipped in between where the chains cross. The two link chain leaves more of the chain on the tire, which gives you a smoother, less bumpy ride, and also helps you to have more precise steering.

If you know that you are going to be driving in extreme weather conditions, you should think about whether or not you would like to try what is called a "Super Stud" chain. Super studs live up to their name by being more rugged than the other types of chains, and providing superior traction even in extreme weather conditions.

Welded Chains

You can also find ATV chains that have studs securely welded onto the links, skipping every other one to provide the best traction of all. Many ATV hobbyists prefer ATV chains with square links that are shaped like the letter "D" and are made in a diamond pattern. These work by keeping the chain securely braced against the tread of the tire, and are said to be among the easiest of ATV chains for the novice to install. This variety is super in heavy wet snow. You will be most impressed at the traction afforded by these chains!

ATV tire chains are not very expensive when you consider the safety features that they provide. That said, make sure you do not purchase the cheapest chains you can find. With ATV chains, you most definitely get what you pay for, and remember safety is priceless!.
